The Stitchers
for Saint Anthony
{ABOUT the STITCHERS}
The Stitchers for St Anthony is a branch of the St. Anthony Foundation.
The St. Anthony Foundation is a non-profit organization who serves the poor and homeless. It is most known for its Dining Room, but now serves the poor and homeless in many different capacities. Click here to find out more about the St. Anthony Foundation.
The Stitchers for St. Anthony’s, also known as the St. Anthony Stitchers, or sometimes, just “the Stitchers”, is made up of many volunteers who sew, knit and crochet for the poor and homeless, primarily in San Francisco and neighboring communities. The Stitchers focus primarily on making clothes, quilts, and baby layettes for the children who are guests of St Anthony Foundation. We also make tote bags, laundry bags and cosmetic bags.
People usually think of the Foundation as being frequented by adults and street people. More and more families with small children are being fed there. They need clothes and warm blankets as well as food. They are the ones who may not be eligible for various reasons to receive assistance from other sources. This is the community that we lovingly serve.
